The Best of Two Worlds

The Best of Two Worlds

Client: PGGM, Zeist

There are two social systems for organising the distribution of resources and means. The market and the state. Both systems have advantages and disadvantages. In both systems you will find abuse, harm and waste, but each also has positive features that are missing in the other. The cooperative map shows how a third, hybrid system; the cooperative can unite the positive elements of both systems. Also, this bird's eye view helps to see that market and state are not opposites, but in many ways complementary.

A map of Jean has many functions that transcend aesthetic beauty. First of all, it forces you to explore, put into words and make sense of the interrelationships of complex issues. You have to take the quiet to "see" it from multiple sides, quiet we often no longer allow ourselves in the wall of the day. Slowly but surely, and two-dimensional structure emerges. When it is finished, it is always a great starting point for a conversation; it gives insight and explains. And no matter how often you look at it - even if you have helped to build it - you see its news every time. But of course it is also wonderful as a gift, because fair is fair: it is always of aesthetic beauty!
